Music is a big part of my life. The most rewarding part of teaching Kindermusik is being able to provide music to children each week and watching them grow. I truly have the best job in the world.
Buffie Dumas is an Oakland University alumnus. She started her degree in vocal music performance but was soon bitten by the teaching bug and, in her junior year, switched her major to vocal music education. She is the minister of music at The Apostolic Church in Auburn Hills and teaches vocal music at Auburn Hills Christian School where she has taught for the last 38 years. In 2000, while attending a music conference, she saw a Kindermusik demonstration and you might say the rest is history. She became certified by Kindermusik that same year and has been teaching Kindermusik ever since. She and her husband, Dan, have been married for 40 years, have 4 children and 9 grandchildren.
Emily Welch has a degree in Elementary Education.
Music has always been a big part of my life. I grew up in a home surrounded by music. I have sung in many choirs and chorales, both in high school and college. Since I starting teaching kindergarten 8 years ago, I have seen firsthand how much music affects one’s learning. My 2-year-old has been in Kindermusik since she was 8 weeks old and it has always been the highlight of her week. I hope I can bring the excitement that I see in her to my students.
April started singing before talking and learned to play piano before taking up the oboe and guitar. As a graduate of Central Michigan University she studied music, anthropology and museum studies, and loved her job with a local daycare.
April enjoyed leading her high school marching band, participated in all sorts of honors bands and earned high ratings at regional and state solo and ensembles. In addition, she toured Europe with Blue Lakes Fine Arts Camp International, played in numerous university and local bands and orchestras and has given lessons to students young and old. She currently teaches private lessons in oboe and has been a licensed Kindermusik educator since 2012.
Started singing at the age of 4 and had several years of private voice lessons. Ivy has participated in school choir throughout high school and also joined several singing competitions, including American Idol and The Voice. She has been married for 9 years and has two beautiful children. Ivy has been a part of the Kindermusik program for 5 years since both her children started attending at the age of 5 months. Ivy is a strong believer in the impact the Kindermusik program can have on young children. This motivated her to become a Kindermusik teacher to share the love of music and make a positive impact.
